About Speaker

Ms. Ruma Chaturvedi

Ms. Ruma Chaturvedi is the Director of Pushpa Khanna Memorial Centre (PKMC) for Special Needs Children in Kanpur. A Company Secretary and law graduate turned special educator, she was inspired by her personal journey as a parent to champion inclusion and rehabilitation for children with disabilities.

Holding a Master’s in Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Special Education – Autism from Osmania University, she is a certified member of the Rehabilitation Council of India and trained in globally recognized programs such as PEERS, Autism Movement Therapy, and Brain Gym. As the coordinator of the WHO Caregivers Skills Training Program (in collaboration with Autism Speaks, USA), she extends global best practices to families and educators across India.

Ms. Chaturvedi also leads VAYAM, a pan-Uttar Pradesh parent support group empowering families of children with disabilities. Under her leadership, PKMC has become one of the state’s leading multimodal therapeutic centres, integrating therapy, education, and skill development for children with special needs. Her advocacy for inclusion extends to NLK’s Disha, an inclusive school that mainstreams children into regular education.

Her work has earned multiple national and international recognitions, and she is a frequent speaker on disability law and inclusive education. Her journey is deeply personal and inspiring — her son, Kush Chaturvedi, who is on the autism spectrum, has become a national-level powerlifter and swimmer with Special Olympics Bharat, embodying the transformative power of inclusion and opportunity.
